Cape Town Spurs Lose 2-1 to Golden Arrows

Cape Town Spurs are probably feeling down at their heels right now after losing 2-1 to Golden Arrows on Tuesday, 19 September.

Taking on Arrows at Athlone Stadium in Cape Town, Western Cape, Spurs initially got an early lead in the 16th minute, courtesy of a header from forward Ashley Cupido. Thereafter, however, it all went downhill for Shaun Bartlett’s team.

Come the second half, Arrows immediately retaliated in the form of substitute forward, Lungelo Nguse, who levelled the score in the 55th minute.

Twenty-five minutes later, Nguse found the back of the net for the second time, enabling Mabhuti Khanyeza’s men to claim a victory over the home team.

This loss not only marks the sixth consecutive defeat for Spurs, but they also equalled a losing record set by Umtata Bush Bucks during the 1999/2000 Premier Soccer League season.

As a result of this match, Cape Town Spurs are now languishing at the bottom of the league rankings in 16th place with zero points; Golden Arrows, on the other hand, are sitting pretty in second place with 14 points.
